Another new year at Jenny’s Cakes

It’s our tenth anniversary this year, a big thank you to all our customers, who choose us to create their special cakes.
We have some laughs, some frowns, some gasps! but for sure it has never been boring!
Also may I take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Amy, Jen, Clare and Margaret, my long suffering team. Well done girls – keep it up.

Disney Characters (1)Minnie Mouse
Despite all the new children’s characters, Disney is still a firm favorite.

My Dream houseA lady’s 40th Birthday. She wants her husband to build her a large house with a swimming pool. We created a cake version for her.

Champange WalkerThis Gentleman’s nickname is Champagne — hence the cake in the shape of a champagne bottle. He is also a keen walker.

Manny and his toolsBold childrens T.V. characters always make good cakes, here is Handy Manny and his tools.

As you have already seen, wedding cakes do not have to be traditional. This couple spend most of their spare time hiking.

Christening CakeThis pretty Christening cake allows the parents, if they wish, to remove the pastilage toy box, as a keep sake.

Alice in Wonderland CakeThe theme for this birthday party was “Mad Hatter’s Tea Party”.

Some thoughts about cakes over the past month

Apologies folks “blogging” is still very new to me. i.e. MUST remember to update more often.
I always believe “variety” stretches and develops skills and keeps the staff from getting complacent, or worse bored!
We at Jenny’s Cakes offer all our customers cakes individualised for them. This results in a great variety of designs. Take a look [...]

It’s been a while .

I cannot believe it’s October. We have been so busy, but we have survived the peak wedding season again.
Since the last time I wrote we attended the Odyssey Wedding Fair in the first weekend in September, this was followed by the Clandeboye Wedding Fair.
Both were very successful for us. We presented a new range of [...]

Who said “life is boring”

Whoever said ”life is boring” has never worked in the cake sector. Life has been far from boring here at Jenny’s Cakes.
This year some of  the cakes styles are certainly different!
Last week we had a lighthouse ! When we asked the bride and groom what the significance the lighthouse had,
we were told: None, other than that [...]

It doesn’t have to be traditional

Life is still very busy in the workshop. Both producing cakes a fitting in appointments for 20010/11 weddings. Certainly the economic climate is causing couples to plan well in advance. They cost and then budget for their cake accordingly.
However one nice side of cake making is variety of cakes we get to create.
 This week we [...]

Manic cake week!!

It’s Sunday; I have survived!!
This time of the year the wedding business is always “crazy”, we expect that. But some weeks seem to evolve beyond “crazy”.

Tuesday: We knew it was very busy with wedding cakes etc however, one of my nephews was also getting married  in Ballybofey in Donegal and as well as being [...]

Celebrity Wedding

Last week we had the privilege of providing the wedding cake for Sunderland footballer George McCartney and his bride Elaine Mooney. Unfortunatley being more up to date with rugby I didn’t realise who George was!! and wedding co-ordinator David McConkey had to educate me.
The Hilton Templepatrick was transformed by Sarah B and her team into [...]
