From Bangor to Castle Leslie (Monaghan)

We are travelling far and wide these days. This week one of my deliveries was to the beautiful setting of Castle Leslie. I was very proud of myself, followed my friends directions, successfully negotiated Armagh etc. and arrived in Glaslough. (now bear in mind – the heavens were opening and I had never been to Castle Leslie before.) Could I find it – NO! Called into a local pub at the bottom of the town and asked for directions. To my horror the chap said “ you’ll never find it from here” I’ll not print what I exclaimed at that point. Thankfully he was joking – we went to the pub door looked round the corner and there it was. Talk about having a “blonde” moment! The Chap’s name was Adrian, we did have a laugh. Got the Cake set up and saw Adrian again on my way out of the Castle, exchanged farewells and headed home. Half way back down the M1 I realised I hadn’t taken a photo of the cake!! (double “blonde moments” – I need a holiday). The cake was a 4 tier broche cake, similar to the one below delivered to the Slieve Donnard, only the bride provided her own brooches.

Five Tier Wedding Cake Covered In SugarCraft Petals

Friday 20th August, Another delivery to Lough Erne Golf Resort in Enniskillen. I love and hate delivering to this venue (is that possible?)
Once I have presented the cake and made sure everything is O.K. I rush to the bar, where they serve the most delicious food: in particular Bread And Butter Pudding! This is what I love.
The Drive I Hate! – Two and a half hours each way and saying “patience is a virtue” rings true when you get stuck behind a driver crawling along at 35 mph.
On Friday I encountered 3 separate “Driving Miss Daisies”. I could feel my shoulders almost becoming “earmuffs”.
Please forgive me – I’ll stop rambling and tell you about the cake.
Five tier stacked cake, each tier a different flavor, starting with fruit at the bottom.
It was iced in white sugar paste. Sugar craft petals where made and dusted with snowflake dusting powder to give a “sheen”. The petals were arranged on the cake to look like flowers.
p.s. Thanks to my cousin Ruth, who lives on route to Enniskillen. The break from driving was much appreciated.

It’s lovely to get to know a family through cakes. This is the third and final daughter to get married. We did the other two daughter’s wedding cakes, as well as Christening cakes.
It has been a pleasure.

Four Tier Novelty Wedding Cake

It is very rare that we do not have at least one consultation with the Bride and Groom. This couple did all the communication via the phone and email. So we never met!
They saw a previous cake on my blog, choose it and adapted it to suit there wedding. I hope they liked the finished product.

This three tier cake is a variation of the “Pearl cake”. The addition of fresh flowers (by David McConkey) finish off the cake beautifully.

Wedding Cake Delivery to Ballygally Castle

Delivery to Ballygally Castle where my good friend Norman McBride is manager. The cake was a four tier classic style wedding cake. On tiers one and three the icing was coloured a deeper cream that tiers two and four. Tiers one and three were also covered with very fine piping detail. 3.5″ pillars are used on each tier to give the cake more height. The top tier was finished off with a poesy of cream sugar-craft roses, roses leave and variegated ivy.

Novelty Wedding Cake

We always tell the bride and groom ,”when choosing your cake do not be afraid to let your creativity emerge” and this couple did just that! well done.
At the beginning of their relationship the groom worked in France and the bride Belfast, hence the Eiffel Tower and Goliath the Harold and wolf Crane.
They now both work in London Canary Wharf, as in teir two. The top teir represents thier wedding day
