This year some of the cakes styles are certainly different!
Last week we had a lighthouse ! When we asked the bride and groom what the significance the lighthouse had,
we were told: None, other than that the groom just wanted a lighthouse.

This week one of our wedding had a Moulin Rouge theme
We created 4 tier cake with ringmaster, can-can girls and
the bride and groom, modelled on the different tiers. On
top we created a model of the Moulin Rouge windmill.
The wedding venue was dressed accordingly and was
magnificent and in no way “tacky”
We also had the quintessential “girlie” cake.
A very pink fairytale castle cake.
I think it turned out really well, so never think your
wedding cake idea is crazy.
Just Go for it!
We are also experiencing a good deal of PR at the moment.
The Ulster Bride magazine are featuring us on their “Ask the experts” page.
I am also doing an interview for White Wedding Pages on Tuesday 11th.
Their previous interviewee was Peggy Porschen, a renowned cake designer in London.
( No pressure then!!!) Both articles will be in the Autumn/Winter issues.

Hi Jenny, I’ve been searching far and wide for a specialty cakeshop near my place that makes unique and lovely princess cakes. I’ve seen some but didn’t get impressed at all until I came across your website and blogspot. So thrilled to see your fantastic creations particularly the very pink fairytale castle cake on this page which is exactly what I want for my daughter’s 1st birthday. May I ask how much this cake costs? What flavours are available and can you make chocolate and caramel fudge for this one? Will you be able to accommodate if ordered for my baby’s party on 16 September? I would be delighted to hear back from you asap. You may reply to my personal email. Many thanks and all the best!
Hi Jenny,
I’m a friend of John’s (Irene’s daughter) and just want to say hi and I love that you’ve started a blog to give us a better insight into the life of a full time cake business. I work in accounts but have developed a huge passion for baking and have branched out into cakes in the last few years. Your website has always been an inspiration and I’ve even been lucky enough to be a recipient of one of your cakes (as have other several of my other family members!) I’m sad to hear your don’t have time for classes as it’s something that’s severely lacking in NI, I have taught myself everything from books, online sites/blogs and lots of trial and error. I also buy most of my supplies online as access to materials is also scarce here.
My long term plans are to be working in the baking field in some capacity so I’ve started a blog to help me showcase my work: http://cakesandbakesni.wordpress.com/
I look forward to continuing to read about your business and the variety of cakes that you produce!
