Some thoughts about cakes over the past month

Apologies folks “blogging” is still very new to me. i.e. MUST remember to update more often.

I always believe “variety” stretches and develops skills and keeps the staff from getting complacent, or worse bored!

We at Jenny’s Cakes offer all our customers cakes individualised for them. This results in a great variety of designs. Take a look at some of our recent cakes.

Hill climbing cakeThis couple adored hill climbing and thier cat!!

Cushion CakeCushions were the theme of this cake.

Pearl wedding cakeWe always ask the bride if there is any detail on her dress, she wants replicated on the cake. Obviously pearls were the main feature here.

A “whopper” of a cakeThis was a “whopper” of a cake. It took 3 people to carry the base section alone, into the hotel. I needed stepladders to place the top section on the pillars. When all was safely assembled …… a valium sandwich to calm my nerves ……

A classic cake with cymbidium orchidsThis was a beautiful classic cake. The brides main flower in her bouquet was white cymbidium orchids, so we replicated some in sugar and presented them trailing down the cake.

Caribbean holiday wedding cakeThis couple got married in the Caribbean and had a party after returning home.

Wedding cake with diamante squaresA very elegant cake, the square diamante pieces were provided by the couple themselves. They also decorated their wedding invitations with the beautiful crystals.

Leonadis rose cakeAgain elegant and tasteful, this sugar leonadis rose was part of the bride’s bouquet.

Eight tier wedding cake in pinkThis bride had a very refreshingly different plan for presenting her cakes

Las Vegas style wedding cakeWe always say, come with your ideas. This couple came prepared – Las Vegas – it was great fun. You cannot see it in this picture, but at the hotel we filled the hollow dividers with gambling chips.

"Wonky" wedding cakeA gentleman came into the workshop, took a look at this cake and very quietly asked if it was meant to be tilting? We did joke that it must have slipped! But no this is a “wonky” cake, you can see lot’s on Lindy Smiths website

Elegance on a budgetAnd finally, low budget does not need to be boring, a very striking and modern example
